Building Generational Wealth for Women of Color w/ Lissa Prudencio

Anastasia Barbuzzi

"I thought, if wealth brings people financial security, options, access, and experiences, why isn't it accessible to everyone?" - Lissa Prudencio

For systemic and historical reasons, it often feels like the worlds of money, wealth, and investing are reserved for men, specifically white men. Lissa Prudencio, Accredited Financial Counselor® and Wealth for Women of Color creator, wants to change that.

After 13 years in business roles at Google, YouTube, and Fox Sports, Lissa enrolled in Certified Financial Planner™ classes. A few pages into the curriculum, she was shocked to discover that a world of wealth existed that she (and a lot of other women) had zero chance of being exposed to as a Filipino American daughter of working-class immigrants. So, she pivoted into helping women of color with their finances.

Systemic oppression and marginalization have contributed to a significant wealth and knowledge gap for women of color, making it difficult for many to achieve financial security. That's why Lissa is committed to providing educational resources, tools, and strategies tailored to the unique challenges faced by women of color.

In 2022, she founded Wealth for Women of Color, a platform dedicated to empowering women of color to achieve financial security and build wealth. Now, she's on a mission to bridge the wealth gap and create a more equitable economic future.
